Established in 1994, this scholarship recognizes outstanding SAE student members who actively support SAE and its activities. It is awarded purely on the basis of the student's support for SAE and its programs, the Collegiate Chapter or the local SAE Section and its activities. It is sponsored by the SAE Foundation and funded through contributions from long-term SAE members (25, 35 and 50 years of service). Many of these members have elected to fund this scholarship in place of receiving a Long Term Recognition Award from SAE.

Yanmar/SAE Scholarship (renewable)
February 15 application deadline
This scholarship is sponsored by the SAE Foundation and through the generous support from the Yanmar Diesel America Corporation, Yanmar Diesel is the world's largest manufacturer of non-vehicle-use diesel engines. After more than half a century of producing and distributing diesel engines, Yanmar is now deeply committed to all aspects of agriculture, marine transportation, construction and general manufacturing industries. With the motto "to conserve energy is to serve mankind," Yanmar founder Magokichi Yamaoka was quick to recognize the value of the diesel engine over the kerosene engines which Yanmar originally built. Given the urgency of limited fuel supplies and environmental concerns over continued use of fossil fuel, Yanmar established this scholarship to help promote their philosophy.
