University-Sponsored SAE Engineering Scholarships: Central State University

SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
Central State University is a premier Historically Black University that nurtures students within a value-based environment focused on excellence in teaching and learning, research and public service. The University is located in Wilberforce, Ohio, four miles northeast of Xenia and 18 miles east of Dayton. Columbus and Cincinnati are about 60 miles away. The University offers 35 academic majors in 11 departments, located in the College of Arts and Sciences, Business and Industry and Education. There are 1800 students currently enrolled in the University.

The Manufacturing Engineering Department houses the Manufacturing Engineering program and the Industrial Technology program. The four-year BS degree program in Manufacturing Engineering (MFE) is one of only a few such programs in the nation dedicated to undergraduate manufacturing engineering education, and which are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET). The BS degree in Industrial Technology has been designed to help fulfill the demand for employees with a sound understanding of fundamental technical principles, together with practical skills required to apply those principles in the laboratory, construction site, industry shop floor or business office.

These scholarships are sponsored by Honda Corporation of America, Marysville, Ohio.

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • Citizen of the United States (not permanent resident) at the time of application.
  • Accepted as an incoming freshman at this university.
  • Enrolled full time in the Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Technology program.
  • Selection criteria include ACT/SAT scores and with a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Financial need is also considered.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Three $1,000 freshman scholarships will be offered, renewable for one year if criteria are met.
  • This scholarship is not transferable to another university.

How to Apply:

  • Download the application and save it to your hard drive as a Word document.
  • Complete the application. All applications must be typed (hand-written applications will be rejected).
  • Email the completed application (in Word or .pdf format) along with any additional documentation required for each scholarship (e.g., SAT/ACT scores, letters of recommendation, etc.) to scholarships@sae.org.

  • All information must be submitted by December 15.
  • Application for this scholarship does not constitute an application for admission to the university. The student is responsible for applying for admission to this university. If application to this university is not made before January 15, the scholarship application will be disqualified.

Selection and Announcement of Recipient:

  • Recipient(s) will be selected and notified by this university.
  • Results for the recipients of the SAE Scholarships Program will be posted online by the end of July.

Terms for Renewal of Scholarship:

  • May be renewed directly through the university for one additional year if criteria are met.
