University-Sponsored SAE Engineering Scholarships: Clarkson University

SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
Clarkson University, located in Potsdam, New York, is a private, nationally ranked university with a reputation for developing innovative leaders in engineering, business, the sciences, health sciences and the humanities. At Clarkson, 3,000 high-ability students excel in an environment where learning is not only positive, friendly and supportive but spans the boundaries of traditional disciplines and knowledge. Faculty achieves international recognition for their research and scholarship and connects students to their leadership potential in the marketplace through dynamic, real-world problem solving.

Clarkson offers majors in the areas of business, engineering, liberal arts, science, and professional concentrations in the health sciences. Undergraduate degrees are granted in engineering in one of six EAC/ABET-accredited curricula: aeronautical, chemical, civil, computer, electrical or mechanical. Clarkson also offers an interdisciplinary program in engineering and management, and a program in software engineering. The Department of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering currently has 19 active faculty members, and the department continues to play a leading role on team-based projects such as the Tour de Sol competition, SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge, Mini Baja® and Formula SAE® racers.

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • Intend to attend this university.
  • Citizen of the United States (not permanent resident) at the time of application.
  • Be a high school senior at the time of application.
  • Scholarships will be granted on the basis of SAT or ACT scores, high school grade point average (90 or 3.5 minimum) and extracurricular activities.
  • Complete an interview (either on-campus or off-campus) by February 15 of the senior year of high school.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Eight $6,000 scholarships will be awarded.
  • Each scholarship is renewable for an additional three years if criteria are met.
  • This scholarship is not transferable to another university.

  • Download the application and save it to your hard drive as a Word document.
  • Complete the application. All applications must be typed (hand-written applications will be rejected).
  • Email the completed application (in Word or .pdf format) along with any additional documentation required for each scholarship (e.g., SAT/ACT scores, letters of recommendation, etc.) to scholarships@sae.org.
  • Submit copy of your official transcript to:

  • All information must be submitted by December 15.
  • Application for this scholarship does not constitute an application for admission to the university. The student is responsible for applying for admission to this university. If application to this university is not made before January 15, the scholarship application will be disqualified.

Selection and Announcement of Recipient:

  • Scholarships will be granted on the basis of SAT or ACT scores, high school grade point average (90 or 3.5 minimum), and extracurricular activities.
  • Recipient(s) will be selected and notified by this university.
  • Results for the recipients of the SAE Scholarships Program will be posted online by the end of July.

Terms for Renewal of Scholarship:

  • May be renewed directly through the university for three additional years if criteria are met.
  • Remain in good academic standing.
  • Remain enrolled full-time at the university.
