University-Sponsored SAE Engineering Scholarships: Drexel University

SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
In 1995, the Drexel University College of Engineering was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 50 undergraduate engineering programs nationwide. Its innovative curriculum, the Drexel Engineering Curriculum, offers a hands-on approach based on how engineers work together in actual professional settings. By integrating engineering, basic sciences, and liberal studies, the curriculum equips graduates with the skills and knowledge they need to become leaders in their professions and fields of study.

The Drexel Engineering Curriculum is designed to give students: a) a thorough understanding of scientific, mathematical, and engineering fundamentals within an engineering framework and the ability to apply these areas of knowledge creatively to a wide variety of engineering problems, (b) a hands-on design focus from the freshman year, (c) a team-based approach to problem solving, d) expertise in experimental methods, e) strong communication skills, f) the ability to think in terms of the social, ethical, and political impact of the engineer's work, and g) familiarity with basic business practices and principles.

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • Accepted as an incoming freshman at this university.
  • Enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Citizen of the United States (not permanent resident) at the time of application.
  • Minimum 1200 SAT or 27 ACT score.
  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Awarded student is not eligible for other Drexel University merit scholarships.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded.
  • Renewable for the duration of the undergraduate degree program if criteria are met.
  • This scholarship is not transferable to another university.

Application Deadline: December 15

How to Apply:

  • Download the application and save it to your hard drive as a Word document.
  • Complete the application. All applications must be typed (hand-written applications will be rejected).
  • Email the completed application (in Word or .pdf format) along with any additional documentation required for each scholarship (e.g., SAT/ACT scores, letters of recommendation, etc.) to scholarships@sae.org.
  • Submit copy of your official transcript to:

  • All information must be submitted by December 15.
  • Application for this scholarship does not constitute an application for admission to the university. The student is responsible for applying for admission to this university. If application to this university is not made before January 15, the scholarship application will be disqualified.

Selection and Announcement of Recipient:

  • Recipient(s) will be selected and notified by this university.
  • Results for the recipients of the SAE Scholarships Program will be posted online by the end of July.

Terms for Renewal of Scholarship:

  • May be renewed directly through the university for the duration of the undergraduate degree program.
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Remain enrolled full-time at the university.
