University-Sponsored SAE Engineering Scholarships: Oakland University
SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
A state-assisted institution of some 17,000 students, Oakland University is situated 25 miles north of Detroit on a naturally beautiful 1,500 acre campus. This location is adjacent to the Oakland Technology Park and to numerous other high-tech firms. Oakland blends the personal contact and attention of a small college with the academic diversity, facilities and extracurricular variety of a comprehensive university.
Undergraduate programs are offered in more than 110 areas while an additional 50 programs are offered at the master's and doctoral level. The School of Engineering and Computer Science, has an enrollment of over 1800, consisting of about 1200 undergraduate and 600 graduate students, is organized into four departments. Bachelor's degrees are offered in eight programs: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Chemistry and Engineering Physics. A number of options are available under some of these programs. A Manufacturing Engineering option is available under both Mechanical Engineering and Systems Engineering programs. Programs in computer, electrical, mechanical, and systems are accredited by ABET. The Computer Science program is accredited by CSAB. The programs are distinguished by an interdisciplinary common core program and strong laboratory component. An optional cooperative education is available in each major.
Student Eligibility Requirements:
- High school senior accepted as an incoming freshman at this university.
- Intend to pursue a degree in the School of Engineering and Computer Science.
- Citizen of the United States (not permanent resident) at the time of application.
- Selection will be based on high school grades and ACT or SAT scores.
Terms of Scholarship:
- One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for the freshman year.
- This scholarship is not transferable to another university.

- Application for this scholarship does not constitute an application for admission to the university. The student is responsible for applying for admission to this university. If application to this university is not made before January 15, the scholarship application will be disqualified.
Selection and Announcement of Recipient:
- Recipient(s) will be selected and notified by this university.
- Results for the recipients of the SAE Scholarships Program will be posted online by the end of July.
Terms for Renewal of Scholarship: This scholarship is not renewable.
