SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
For over 130 years in Hoboken, New Jersey, Stevens Institute of Technology has educated leaders for a changing world. An independent, co-educational institution of higher education and research, Stevens specializes in engineering, computer science, the sciences, and the humanities to foster critical analysis and creativity. Stevens was the first college in the country to require freshman to have a personal computer. Classes at the park-like campus with magnificent views of New York City are small and the student/faculty ratio is 9:1. The student body consists of just over 1,700 undergraduates and an additional 2,000 graduate students from the United States and more than 30 foreign countries.
The engineering program, which leads to the Bachelor of Engineering degree, attracts 60% of the current student body. A key component of the Stevens program is the design spine - a sequence of design courses each semester that integrates all courses. Freshmen take core courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science and humanities. As sophomores, students choose one of nine concentrations: Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Management, Mechanical, Naval, and Information Systems. Dual and accelerated degree programs, including a combined bachelor's and master's degree, as well as various minors, are also available. All seniors are responsible for a 10-credit design project. High achieving undergraduates are considered for various engineering honor societies and the Stevens Scholars Program.
