COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & SCIENCE SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
The University of Detroit Mercy was founded in 1990 with the consolidation of the University of Detroit (1877) and Mercy College of Detroit (1941). The College of Engineering and Science has offered engineering degrees since 1911 and was one of the first schools to receive ABET accreditation. The College offers engineering degrees, which can be completed in four years, from the following departments: Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
With small class sizes and a student-to-faculty ratio of 16 to 1, engineering students receive a high level of individualized instruction and personal attention. In addition to excellent classroom and laboratory experiences on campus, all engineering students are required to participate in UDM's co-operative education program, one of the oldest and most established programs in the US. Over 200 corporations and government departments participate. Students gain valuable practical experience, make important career contacts, and earn a substantial amount of money during their three semesters of rotating co-op employment, which typically begins after the sophomore year. UDM graduates enter the engineering community as conscientious, well-rounded individuals able to handle real-world problems.
