University-Sponsored SAE Engineering Scholarships: University of Florida

DEAN'S ENGINEERING SCHOLAR SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
The University of Florida is a public, land-grant research university, one of the most comprehensive in the United States; it encompasses virtually all academic and professional disciplines. It is the oldest and largest of Florida's eleven universities, and is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU). The university's 48,000 students are drawn from over 100 countries and all 50 states. The ratio of men to women is 49/51, and 74% of its students are undergraduates. It is among the nation's 50 leading research universities, its faculty of 4,127 attracting in excess of $450 million in research and training grants each year.

Established in 1910, the College of Engineering is the second largest of the university's 20 colleges and professional schools, with an enrollment of over 6,500 undergraduate and graduate students. Programs leading to baccalaureate and graduate degrees, which are fully accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), are offered in the areas of Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and Geomatics (Surveying and Mapping). In addition, Biomedical Engineering and Coastal Engineering are offered at the graduate level only.

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • High school senior accepted as an incoming freshman at this university.
  • Intend to pursue a degree any program in the College of Engineering.
  • Citizen of the United States (not permanent resident) at the time of application.
  • Selection will be based on high school grades and ACT or SAT scores.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for the freshman year.
  • This scholarship is not transferable to another university.

Application Deadline: December 15

How to Apply:

  • Download the application and save it to your hard drive as a Word document.
  • Complete the application. All applications must be typed (hand-written applications will be rejected).
  • Email the completed application (in Word or .pdf format) along with any additional documentation required for each scholarship (e.g., SAT/ACT scores, letters of recommendation, etc.) to scholarships@sae.org.
  • Submit copy of your official transcript to:

  • All information must be submitted by December 15.
  • Application for this scholarship does not constitute an application for admission to the university. The student is responsible for applying for admission to this university. If application to this university is not made before January 15, the scholarship application will be disqualified.

Selection and Announcement of Recipient:

  • Recipient(s) will be selected and notified by this university.
  • Results for the recipients of the SAE Scholarships Program will be posted online by the end of July.

Terms for Renewal of Scholarship: This scholarship is not renewable.
