University-Sponsored SAE Engineering Scholarships: University of Pittsburgh

SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
Recognized as one of the nation's top research universities, the University of Pittsburgh has been awarding engineering degrees since 1846. This establishes the University as the sixth oldest engineering program in the country. Today, with a strong teaching and research-oriented faculty, the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering continues to foresee and respond to the complex technological requirements of our society.

The School of Engineering enrolls approximately 1,600 undergraduates and offers degrees and/or specialization in areas including chemical, civil and environmental, industrial, electrical, materials science, mechanical, engineering physics, computer, metallurgy, petroleum, and bio-engineering. Students are strongly encouraged to enhance their educational experience by participating in the internationally recognized cooperative education program, performing undergraduate research, or completing an internship.

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • High school senior accepted as an incoming freshman and matriculate to the Pittsburgh campus.
  • Intend to pursue a degree in engineering.
  • Citizen of the United States or permanent resident at the time of application.
  • Minimum 1300 SAT score.
  • Minimum high school class rank in the top 10%.
  • Selection will be based on high school grades and ACT or SAT scores.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • One $1,000 tuition scholarship will be awarded.
  • Renewable for 3 additional years if criteria are met.
  • This scholarship is not transferable to another university.

Application Deadline: December 15

How to Apply:

  • Download the application and save it to your hard drive as a Word document.
  • Complete the application. All applications must be typed (hand-written applications will be rejected).
  • Email the completed application (in Word or .pdf format) along with any additional documentation required for each scholarship (e.g., SAT/ACT scores, letters of recommendation, etc.) to scholarships@sae.org.
  • Submit copy of your official transcript to:

  • All information must be submitted by December 15.
  • Application for this scholarship does not constitute an application for admission to the university. The student is responsible for applying for admission to this university. If application to this university is not made before January 15, the scholarship application will be disqualified.

Selection and Announcement of Recipient:

  • Recipient(s) will be selected and notified by this university.
  • Results for the recipients of the SAE Scholarships Program will be posted online by the end of July.

Terms for Renewal of Scholarship:

  • May be renewed directly through the university for four years / eight semesters if criteria are met.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
