University-Sponsored SAE Engineering Scholarships: Western Michigan University

SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
Western Michigan University's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences is a leading educator of engineers in the United States. Industry scientists and WMU faculty team up to conduct research and testing. As a student in the college, you will get first-hand experience developing new products and making scientific discoveries.

The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is offering a scholarship for freshmen in engineering. Applicants must be admitted to one of the following undergraduate degree programs at Western Michigan University: Aeronautical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Paper Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Engineering Graphics and Design Technology or Engineering Management Technology.

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • High school senior accepted as an incoming freshman at this university.
  • Intend to pursue a degree in engineering.
  • Citizen of the United States (not permanent resident) at the time of application.
  • Must be a resident of Michigan.
  • The top two candidates from the pool will be awarded a scholarship based on appropriateness of high school courses to preparation for engineering and technology education at Western Michigan University, admission GPA, ACT scores and essay.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.
  • Renewable for 3 additional years if criteria are met.
  • This scholarship is not transferable to another university.

Application Deadline: December 15

How to Apply:

  • Download the application and save it to your hard drive as a Word document.
  • Complete the application. All applications must be typed (hand-written applications will be rejected).
  • Email the completed application (in Word or .pdf format) along with any additional documentation required for each scholarship (e.g., SAT/ACT scores, letters of recommendation, etc.) to scholarships@sae.org.
  • Submit copy of your official transcript to:

  • All information must be submitted by December 15.
  • Application for this scholarship does not constitute an application for admission to the university. The student is responsible for applying for admission to this university. If application to this university is not made before January 15, the scholarship application will be disqualified.

Selection and Announcement of Recipient:

  • Recipient(s) will be selected and notified by this university.
  • Results for the recipients of the SAE Scholarships Program will be posted online by the end of July.

Terms for Renewal of Scholarship:

  • May be renewed directly through the university for three years if criteria are met.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
