The SAE Aero Design East competition held April 3-5, 2009 in Kennesaw, Georgia lived up to its high-quality, high-excitement tradition. Completing over 300 individual flights and 8 rounds of flight competitions, the almost perfect weather was the exclamation point to the competitions three-day event.

SAE Aero Design West Returns to the California Skies!

The first Aero Design competition of the year was held March 6-8, 2009 in Van Nuys, California. SAE International returned to Apollo XI Field after a year absence and along with Lockheed Martin as host and sponsor, the San Fernando Valley Radio Control Flyers, Byrons Fuel and NASA, produced an outstanding competition! 54 teams from around the world registered for the event. Teams from the United States, Canada, India, Poland, Mexico and Venezuela all gathered for three days of fun and excitement.

NASA Systems Engineering Award - Aero East Deadline Extended

The deadline for Aero Design East participants to submit information for the NASA Systems Engineering Awards has been extended to Monday, March 16, 2009. Submissions should continue to be emailed to nasa_aero_east_2009@nx.arc.nasa.gov. This year, SAE is raffling off an iPod to those students who complete our post-event surveys. An email is sent to all affiliated participants after the close of the events with a link to the survey, so be sure to add yourself to your team and complete our survey! There will be a section for students to enter the drawing by submitting their name and email address (refer to question #20 when taking the survey). Only 1 iPod will be raffled to all entered CDS participants.

Aero Design East - Lockheed Martin Facility Tour

UPDATED 02-Feb-09; We have reached the maximum 50 US Citizen limit for the C130 Assembly Line Tour and F-22 Flight Simulator / Demonstrator ride. Registration for this activity is now closed. Should there be any participants that are unable to attend, please inform the tour and security coordinator, Kristin Suarez (kristin.m.suarez@lmco.com) as soon as possible so others on the waiting list can take part in the experience.
